COMMUNITY ATTITUDE TOWARD THE GENERATION RENEWAL PROCESS IN GEORGIA

Summary

The social-economic  crisis during the last decade in Georgia, several wars, increasing number of refugees, increasing unemployment, and dramatically increased number of emigrants – have affected  negatively on the population of Georgia, simultaneously decreasing the demographical development through the Country.

In Georgia a new generation is less than parents’ generation, it can recover old generation for only 70-80 %.

According to figures published by the United Nations, if this trend continues, the population will decrease by 28% in 2050, which may result in significant population loss (United Nations, 2015).

While the growth rate for the past three years has shown a small upward trend in population numbers, the overall picture is not changed.

The modern demographic situation has the nature of the crisis, which includes the following problems: Reduction of the natural population growth, Sex-Structure deformation, Extensive internal and external migration, Low level of Community management, Low level of management demographical problems

According to the problems above, it is important to analyze the attitude toward community renewal process through the Country.

Results.  780 respondents participated in the survey. Women participants were more than man. 64.4 % of the respondents were  registered in marriage, more than half of them have high education level.

The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Most of respondents were Georgians by nationality, Orthodox Christians. The income for each family was 1587.4  GEL.

Respondents with high education have more information about ongoing demographical situation, comparing with the respondents with less education level.

Main findings. It is regressive type community renewal process in Georgia.Community has not enough information about demographical and birthrate tendency through the Country. Georgian community feels unsatisfactory about the legislation regulations that can not fully encourage the birthrate through the Country.
